The Swedish Police Authority is Sweden's largest authority with approximately 40,000 employees across the country. With us, you have the opportunity to contribute to the Police's mission to increase safety and reduce crime in society.
The National Forensic Centre (NFC) is the police's operational department for forensic laboratory activities. At the request of the investigation leader, NFC conducts forensic examinations of traces and materials from criminal investigations. The department is also responsible for the authority's quality assurance of the forensic operations as a whole, as well as for developing methods and practices for the operations. The department's tasks also include forensic research and development, work that is often conducted in international collaboration.
We are now looking for employees who want to contribute to our photography operations in Umeå.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The position is permanent with placement in the Weapons and Photography Group in Umeå. The group consists of ten employees and is part of the Northern Laboratory Section.
The main tasks carried out in the group include technical photography of objects and traces in the studio, as well as crime scene documentation using various techniques. We use alternative light sources and filters to visualize traces that are difficult to see in white light. Crime scene documentation also uses UAS (drones), 360-degree photography, video recording, and laser scanning. Other important tasks in the group include method development, training, acting as expert support, and quality assurance through documentation and traceability.
During your introduction, you will be mentored by an experienced forensic photographer in the group. For the right person, there are great opportunities for ongoing development in our various areas, both through collaboration with other professional groups within the Police Authority and through collaboration with international partners.

This is an opportunity for you who have:
- Post-secondary education in photography, film, image, and editing, or equivalent qualifications, experiences, and knowledge that the employer deems relevant.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form.
- Driver's license with B category.
- Normal color vision and visual acuity with correction, such as glasses.
We consider it an advantage if you also have:
- Current professional experience as a photographer to the extent that the employer deems relevant.
- Experience in forensic photography, or other technical photography that the employer deems relevant.
- Experience in advanced image editing with Adobe software or similar.
- Experience in documenting your work in writing for traceability and information transfer.
- Experience in conducting photo documentation using drones or other technically advanced systems.
PERSONAL QUALITIES
In the role of photographer within NFC, it is important to be meticulous, analytical, and take responsibility for ensuring that what is delivered is of high quality. A good attention to detail is crucial for the results. You also need to be able to prioritize and adapt to changing conditions during the workday, as we work with cases for investigative purposes that can have very high priority.
In the role of photographer, communication, both verbal and written, is of great importance to ensure that assignments are carried out correctly in every situation. We work in a small group where collaboration is central, while the role also requires the ability to work independently.
